Dr. Nguyen Van Tu - General Director of the Vietnam Petroleum Institute, delivered a speech accepting his new position.
In his acceptance remarks, Dr. Nguyen Van Tu expressed sincere appreciation and gratitude to the Party Committee, Members' Council, and Petrovietnam's leadership for their trust in entrusting him with this new responsibility. He affirmed that the appointment represents both a great honour and a significant responsibility at a time when the energy industry faces numerous new opportunities and challenges.
Dr. Nguyen Van Tu highlighted that, over 48 years of development, VPI has established its standing as a leading institution in scientific research, technology application, and technology transfer within the oil and gas sector — achievements built upon the intellect, dedication, and sustained contributions of successive generations of leaders, researchers, experts, and employees.
In his new capacity, he pledged to work alongside the Institute's leadership collective to preserve and carry forward its valued traditions while continuing to innovate in order to meet Petrovietnam's development requirements in the new period.
To that end, VPI will focus on three key priority areas: restructuring its organisation and governance towards a leaner, more professional, and more efficient model; building a high-calibre scientific research workforce; and concentrating resources on core and strategic research fields capable of generating practical value and directly supporting the Group's production and business operations.
Dr. Nguyen Van Tu affirmed that he and the VPI leadership and employees will continue to reform management thinking, enhance the quality of the science and technology workforce, intensify research in the oil and gas sector's core disciplines, and expand into new energy, renewable energy, and the energy industry at large.
In addition, VPI will prioritise the commercialisation of research outputs and the closer alignment of scientific and technological activities with the practical needs of its units and the Group as a whole - with effectiveness and tangible value delivered to business operations serving as the benchmark for research quality.
Through these efforts, VPI will continue to affirm its role as Petrovietnam's centre of knowledge, strategic consultancy, technology transfer, and innovation - contributing to addressing major challenges in oil and gas, energy, energy transition, emissions reduction, and competitiveness enhancement of the Group.
