VPI and Air Liquide Partner to Develop Hydrogen and CCUS Technologies
On September 25, 2025, the Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI) held a working session with Air Liquide to explore potential collaboration in developing technologies for the energy transition.
At the meeting, Mr. Jan Kollmus – Vice President for Business in the Asia-Pacific region and Managing Director of Air Liquide E&C Singapore – presented Air Liquide’s technological capabilities in areas such as hydrogen production, storage and utilization, carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCUS), and biomass conversion into fuels such as e-methanol and e-fuels.
Leaders of VPI and Air Liquide exchanged insights on cooperation in developing energy transition technologies.
The two sides also discussed Air Liquide’s project experience and its potential applications in Vietnam, including the development of a green hydrogen value chain; CO₂ separation, purification, liquefaction, and utilization; as well as technologies for producing e-fuels and e-methanol from biomass.
Dr. Nguyễn Văn Tư – Acting Vice President of VPI – highly appreciated the collaborative outcomes between Air Liquide and VPI to date, emphasizing that this partnership lays the groundwork for addressing technological challenges related to hydrogen and CCUS applications in Vietnam’s energy transition. This cooperation contributes to achieving the country’s net-zero emissions target by 2050.
VPI is a leading scientific and technological institution in Vietnam’s energy sector, with strong capabilities in R&D and technical services. The institute supports Petrovietnam in achieving sustainable growth and enhancing its competitiveness through operational optimization and breakthroughs in technological application and innovation.
