On August 21, 2026, in Hanoi, the Vietnam Petroleum Institute (VPI), a member unit of the Vietnam National Industry-Energy Group (Petrovietnam), signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with TÜV SÜD Vietnam Co., Ltd. to promote cooperation in consultancy, training, and the development of technical solutions supporting Vietnam's energy transition.

VPI and TÜV SÜD Vietnam sign an MoU to strengthen cooperation in energy transition and technical consulting services.
Under the MoU, VPI and TÜV SÜD Vietnam will collaborate in providing technical solutions for offshore wind power, power grids, hydrogen, nuclear energy, battery energy storage systems (BESS), carbon capture, utilization and storage (CCS/CCUS), and composite materials in Vietnam. The two parties will jointly assess and pursue potential cooperation opportunities and projects in the energy sector, while delivering consulting services, training programs, and technical solutions to meet market needs and support the country's energy transition goals.
Speaking at the signing ceremony, Mr. François-Xavier Bauzet, Senior Vice President of TÜV SÜD ASEAN, highly appreciated VPI's role in scientific research, technology development, and technical advisory services for Vietnam's energy sector. He noted that Vietnam is presented with significant opportunities in its energy transition journey, particularly in offshore wind power, hydrogen, CCS/CCUS, and carbon emission reduction solutions. The leader of TÜV SÜD expressed his expectation that the Memorandum of Understanding would create opportunities for both parties to combine their expertise and experience in developing technical solutions, training programs, and high-quality consulting services for the Vietnamese market.

On behalf of VPI's leadership, Dr. Nguyen Thanh Tung, Deputy General Director of VPI, highly appreciated TÜV SÜD's capabilities and extensive international experience. He noted that cooperation with TÜV SÜD is a timely and strategic step as Petrovietnam expands its operations into new energy sectors. As Petrovietnam's research and technical consultancy arm, VPI is actively advancing research activities, acquiring international experience and technologies, and connecting stakeholders across emerging energy fields such as offshore wind, hydrogen, nuclear energy, and other advanced energy technologies. VPI’s leader expressed his expectation that cooperation with TÜV SÜD would contribute to enhancing the quality of research, training, and the development of optimal solutions for Vietnam's energy industry.
